The 3 practices that make up Kriya Yoga (Tapas, Svadhyaya, Isvara Pranidhana-YS II-1) are central to the study of yoga. The classical application of Svadhyaya is to consult the sacred texts to gather definitions of Self that help you distinguish between the little you (self) and you as sacred Seer to the world (Self).
