For several decades, I have used the Upanishads as a practical and mystical map to chart my way into the challenging labyrinth of a daily asana practice. In this course, I will read and interpret passages from different upanishads (including Isa, Prasna, Brihadaranyaka, Chandogya, and others). The content mainly takes the form of fascinating stories and poignant conversations about the nature of practice and yoga that take place between various teachers and students. I will share many gems that continue to help me grow in my practice and in the greater spheres of my life.
The Upanishads are a class ancient yoga texts that come from the Vedas (the oldest, original yoga texts). Upanishad means “sitting down near” (the teacher to hear the sacred teachings on yoga).
Upanishad also means: words of mystery or secret/mystical doctrine.
