For years, I’ve offered a free Thanksgiving yoga class—people seem to enjoy it and it helps me give thanks.
There’s something perfect about the contrast: yoga is an ascetic practice where we empty out, and Thanksgiving is a feast where we celebrate and fill up. I love both. I love the ritual of cooking, gathering with family, and giving thanks. And I love starting the day with practice—dropping into the body, finding stillness before the chaos.
This year, join me Thanksgiving morning for a one-hour practice on Zoom (Eastern Standard Time). I’ll create a special set with a display of my antique Indian prints, candles and flowers. We’ll move through a custom short-form primary series—accessible, powerful, undiluted Ashtanga with modifications and inspiring cues that work for your body.
Whether you’ve been practicing with me for years, new to Ashtanga, or somewhere between, this is a chance to experience my approach: sensible, creative, and rooted in skill building technique. After class, I’ll offer a short talk on practice.
Start your Thanksgiving celebration by moving with community and honoring your body.
