Asana Kitchen: Setu Bandhasana

Greetings,
I am officially deep into my spring workshop schedule. Next weekend I will be in Montana, then my in-depth study in Philadelphia, followed by workshops in Calgary, Charlottesville, Saskatchewan in Canada and then a week long in-depth in Olympia, Washington. If you are able to attend any of those workshops this spring it would be great to work with you.

This Asana Kitchen was filmed at my Mysore Intensive in India this past February. The information on next year’s Intensive in India is on my website so check it out and come join me!

Hari Om,
David

Setu Bandhasana

Crossing bridge to Sita

Ram’s setu bandha (literally bridge) is the ultimate bridge that reunites Ram and Sita. Built by Ram’s (the Self) army, composed of monkeys, bears, and other creatures it is made of stones that float on water because they have been magically etched with Ram’s name. This setu bandha is the means by which the Self crosses through the psyche, through the ocean of citta vritti’s, to win back buddhi (the awakened intellect), the feminine principle of receptive discerning awareness.

Hi! In Yoga Mala, Guruji demonstrates this with the hands at the top of the rib cage under the armpits. What is the difference? Is there a way that is more beneficial?
